If you logged into QuickBooks Online recently and thought, “Wait… where did everything go?” you’re not alone!

QuickBooks Online (QBO) is rolling out a brand-new interface across Canada. The goal is to make navigation cleaner, improve workflow, and set the stage for future upgrades — but we know that change can feel overwhelming when you just want to get your bookkeeping done. Plus, this all could come at what could be an inconvenient and hectic time for your business - smack dab in the middle of year end, tax time, holidays and payroll deadlines!

The good news? We’re here for you and you don’t need to panic! Here’s the lowdown on:

  1. What’s changing

  2. How to switch back (for now), and

  3. Where to find training so this transition feels smooth.

🚀 What’s Changing?

QuickBooks Online has introduced a redesigned layout with updated menus, a more modern look, and new ways of accessing your books. Many Canadian users started seeing the change in late 2025.

The new look of QuickBooks Online, rolling out in late 2025

This update is part of Intuit’s larger push to create a more streamlined platform with better performance and more helpful features.

The biggest visual differences include:

  • A reorganized left-hand navigation menu with symbols and customization

  • Updated workflows for common tasks (creating invoicing, generating estimates, and accepting bank transactions)

  • More AI-powered features; AI “agents” for accounting, customers, sales tax, project management and finance

  • Cleaner screens for sales, banking, and reporting - everything in one page, no “preview” mode

You may love it — or you may find yourself missing the “old” QuickBooks.

Either way, here’s how to navigate the switch.

🔄 How to Switch Back to the Old Interface (While You Still Can)

For now, most users will see an option to return temporarily to Classic View.

Here’s how:

  1. Click the ⚙️ Gear icon (top right).

  2. Look for an option such as: “Switch to classic view” or “Switch back to previous QuickBooks experience.”

  3. Your screen should revert to the familiar layout.

👉 Important: This option will not be available forever. Intuit has already announced that the classic interface will be retired later on, so it’s a good idea to start getting comfortable with the new layout now.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Give Intuit Your Feedback

When massive changes like this occur in QuickBooks Online, there are almost certainly going to be bugs. We’ve found our fair share with each system update.

If there are features that aren’t working for you, it is so important that you give Intuit your feedback. Navigate to the ⚙️ Gear icon and click “Feedback”. There are also many modules within the application to rate features and report bugs back to Intuit, and you can access a community forum here to express your like - or dislike - for the new product.
